Baby. Just to hear the word brings so many different emotions. Hope, excitement, anticipation, even a little fear of the unknown if you are a first-time parent. Hope of new life, excitement of such a precious gift, anticipation of the arrival, and some anxiety of whether you are capable and worthy of being entrusted with the care of another life.
My heart swells and races when I even try to imagine what Mary must have felt from the moment she was told she would give birth to the son of God until the moment the baby arrived. I love the song, “Mary Did You Know?” It covers so many miracles the Baby Jesus grew to perform, all the way to His death on the cross, resurrection, and return to Heaven where He waits for us today.
After the angels appeared to the shepherds in the fields, the Bible tells us, “[T]hey went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger” (Luke 2:16).
My prayer for all is that we would rush first to remember our salvation was brought to this earth in the form of a baby. New life, hope, and peace are found in the Baby Jesus.
Sondra,
I love your statement. Its true how much the birth and life of Jesus is so significant and how anxious Mary must have been not completely knowing what Jesus would accomplish in a lifetime.
