For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
I was raised in a home that did not believe in God. As I grew up, my parents would often promise and not follow through with their promises. I remember one time my father promising a summer trip to Disneyland. We were so excited! Instead, we traveled to northern Arizona so he could pursue his passion for fishing.
When parents break their promises, they teach us not to trust them. If your child can’t trust you in the little promises, how will they trust you in the big ones?
There is a prophecy in Micah 5:1-2 that reveals Bethlehem as the birthplace of the Messiah, eliminating all other cities and towns throughout the world as a place in which the Messiah could be born. It narrows the possibilities to one tiny village just south of Jerusalem called Bethlehem.
Sometimes our earthly fathers break their promises, but our heavenly Father always fulfills His. Seven hundred years before the birth of Jesus, God declared through the prophet Micah the Messiah would be born in the City of David – Bethlehem. He fulfilled His promise – we can trust Him for little promises and the big ones!
This is a very convicting, yet encouraging post. Thianks for sharing
