And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped
him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger,
because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2:7
She laid him in a manger. The definition for a manger is “a feeder that is made of carved stone, wood, or metal construction and is used to hold food for animals (as in a stable).” I think we all want to cringe at the thought of our sweet Savior being laid in a feeding trough where animals have eaten.
Have you ever taken time to think of where you lay your sweet Savior? If my heart were His manger would he find it warm and welcoming, or have I filled it with things that would make Him feel uncomfortable, or worse, unwanted? Would you cringe to think you have laid Him there?
What I love about this season is the picture of Grace the birth of Jesus paints. Today, you can ask him to forgive you of those uncomfortable, unwanted heart issues, and prepare your heart to receive the beautiful gift from God when He sent His Son from Heaven.
Patty and I worship with you via the internet here in Ecuador. Pastor Sam and staff have been a true blessing as we seek the word of our Lord every Sunday. Our only wish would be that we could worship with all of you at West Park. We were with you from 1993 through 1997 and were truly blessed.
We might be planning to visit with all of you in the fall of 2016. When we watch the Sunday preaching, our hearts long to be in the congregation. Maybe someday….
Hello to Pastor Sam and Jared Raby.
Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement. May you and Pat be blessed through the messages and have a blessed Christmas.
Theresa
never tire of this beautiful story, thanks Theresa for being there and pointing people in the right direction.
