Praying the Power of the Psalms – Psalm 42

blog_prayingthepowerofthepsalms

Day 4 – Psalm 42

1 As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?b
3 My tears have been my food
day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise,
a multitude keeping festival.

Prayer of Reflection:

“Lord, may I thirst for Your presence, as just as the deer requires daily water to survive. Father, may I see my daily need for You. Father, I want to be in Your presence and experience in all I do.

“May I have the courage to step out and drink from Your Word daily. Father, I trust You will protect me in times when my enemies know that I am weak. When they question Your love, Father, may I be faithful to wait on You and Your will, in all my circumstances.

“May I always praise You, Father. Daily, I am reminded of what You have done for me. Though I am a sinner and did not seek You, You loved me and sent Your son for me. May I forever praise You. Amen.”

What a blessed way to think about our need for the Lord…as a dear pants for the water. I am so moved to know that God chases after me for indeed in my fallen state I would not have gone after Him (Rom. 3).

This is a great way to start the day! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I like the message I see in this psalm which is when life makes you ask where is God and your soul gets sad, just remember to praise God.

I know that I am never alone when I experience my intimate time with you Oh Father. It is refreshing to know that when earthly relationships fail, I can depend on the cool morning drink from the stream I receive from my Father daily. Let me never long for any other flowing stream but from Him. Remember that we are never alone if we seek Him daily!

Thank you GOD for watching over my family, friends and love ones everyday. Thank you for Al for putting these Bible Verses on here everyday. We have no excuse for not praising GOD everyday. We thank you Sweet Jesus
