Day 1 – Psalm 71
1 In You, O Lord, I put my trust;
Let me never be put to shame.
2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape;
Incline Your ear to me, and save me.
3 Be my strong refuge,
To which I may resort continually;
You have given the commandment to save me,
For You are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,
Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD;
You are my trust from my youth.
6 By You I have been upheld from birth;
You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb.
My praise shall be continually of You. NKJV
Prayer of Reflection:
“God, you are the Rock of my salvation. Thank you that I don’t have to fear man because you have said you will deliver me from those who would put me to shame, from those who would cause me to stumble. Thank you for being patient with me and hearing my cries for help. Time and time again I run to you and you are always there, listening, loving me as you incline your ear to me.
“Your arms surround me like a fortress. I am safe in them. When I am discouraged or overwhelmed by the responsibilities of this world, I can rest in your embrace. You remind me that I am an exile here. My home is with you, now and forever. You remind me that you chose me from the womb, and taught me from the point of my salvation as a youth to this present day that my hope is in you. Your Word is my way of escape. Through it, I am delivered from the desires of the flesh and the temptations of this world and the unrighteous. Help me, God, to live a life of continual praise to you.
“I lift these words in praise to you. You are the Rock of my salvation, and worthy to be praised!”
