It’s that time of year again to begin planning for Vacation Bible School. At the same time, we are also planning for the construction of our new nursery wing and the renovation/remodel of the Children’s Center.
For VBS this year we are going to go out into our community and build on the relationships that CedarBrook Team and Missionaries have been working so hard to establish. We will do this through hosting Vacation Bible School at 3 area complexes using our VBS week and resources to love on our CedarBrook families.
We will soon have a wonderful new facility to host VBS for many years to come. These CedarBrook families are more likely to come to West Park after new relationships and friendships have been established.
Now is a great opportunity to minister to kids and families, right where they are.
VBS 2019 – In The Wild
Grab your gear and head out on a wild adventure—with elephants and egrets, polar bears and penguins, cockatoos and crocodiles. As kids gather snapshots of exotic animals, they will also examine snapshots of Jesus in the Bible. Kids experience opportunities to respond to the gospel through every encounter, providing endless moments to go from bewildered to believing.
John 20:31 But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
This is EXACTLY the TRUTH that we want to share with our CedarBrook families.

FAQs
Why is this year’s Vacation Bible School not like the normal VBS of West Park past?
We are taking VBS off campus this year to minister to three different complexes in our CedarBrook Community, to reach children with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through this event, we will extend the vision of West Park, which is – To become a church that is more and more intentional about impacting our community with the ministry and message of God’s love. This is a great opportunity to get to know our CedarBrook families and spend time with them specifically. Hopefully, building relationships with them will encourage them to attend West Park for other activities and events.
What should we say to regular VBS attendees when they ask why aren’t we doing VBS on campus?
Share with them our mission and vision. Ask them to pray for this year’s VBS.
Will families be able to register and drop off their children at one of these locations?
No, families will not be able to register and drop off their children at these VBS sites. They may bring their children to attend at any site, BUT PARENTS MUST STAY.
Where will my kids attend VBS?
At which ever site you choose to serve. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to experience local missions as a family. We recommend that you take your kids, entering Kindergarten and older, out to whichever site you sign-up to serve. Older siblings are encouraged to come and serve alongside their parents.
What about my Infant, Toddler or PreSchooler?
You can certainly take them out to serve with you. But if you prefer, we will have care and activities available on campus for VBS volunteers’ children only. Ages birth–Pre-K.
What are the times?
- 3:30-5:00, Monday – Thursday @ The Pines
- 6:30–8:00, Monday – Thursday @ Natures Cove and The Elements
- WP Base Camp Childcare will be available from 6-8:30, M-Th. (3:30-4 for Pines Volunteers)
- 6:30, Friday on the Fields of Grace for our “in The Wild” VBS Celebration
Should I drive to my volunteer site?
Yes. Carpooling is recommended. We hope to have shuttles available from WP to each location.
Will there be food at VBS or should we grab a bite on the way?
Tee Dedrick and our VBS kitchen crew will be preparing our usual “heavy snack” / “light dinner”. Food and water/lemonade will be available at each VBS Site, Monday – Thursday.
Am I signing up to serve on Friday also?
YES. On Friday night, we will have a “In The Wild” VBS Celebration back on campus at West Park, up on the Fields of Grace, 6:30-8:00. All volunteers will have roles and responsibilities for that night as well.
