Community Groups
We all have a need to belong. Community Groups provide a place where Christians can build meaningful friendships and encourage one another as they follow Jesus together.
Throughout the New Testament, believers are called to live out more than fifty "one another" commands—loving, serving, encouraging, praying for, and bearing one another's burdens. These relationships are difficult to cultivate in the context of a Sunday morning worship service alone.
At West Park, we believe Community Groups are an essential part of spiritual growth and discipleship. They provide a place to experience biblical community, care for one another, and live out the mission of Jesus together in Knoxville.

Growing together as followers of Jesus

TABLE
The table is a symbol of fellowship. As we gather regularly to share meals and spend time together, we foster genuine friendships rooted in Christ. We also strive to keep an open seat at the table, always welcoming others into community as we follow Jesus together.

TOWEL
The towel refers to the towel and basin, to Jesus washing his disciples’ feet. We strive to be communities marked by service both to one another and with one another. Humble service follows the example of Jesus and helps us carry the heart of Jesus into our city.
TRAINING
Scripture tells us to train ourselves for godliness, and training is best done alongside others. The Great Commission of Jesus, to make disciples, requires that we be growing as disciples ourselves. Community Groups are training grounds for discipleship, where prayer, interaction with Scripture, and other spiritual practices make us more like Jesus.
Equipping Classes
Every Christian is tasked with carrying out the ministry of Jesus. Equipping Classes exist to equip Christians to do the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12). They are topical in nature and complement the preaching in the weekly worship service. We offer classes on theology, spiritual practices, and Christian living.

registration
Equipping Classes are held on Sunday mornings at 9:15am and 11:00am. We offer multiple classes that help you strengthen your faith and connections with others. Choose a class that interests you and register!

training program
The West Park Training Program is a church-based development program seeking to equip men and women for disciple-making in the church, home, and world. We train students in four key areas: doctrine, scripture, formation, and mission.
Paul instructs believers to “train yourself for godliness” (1 Timothy 4:7). At West Park, we take this call seriously, understanding that it takes effort to become more like Jesus. Utilizing the various means of transformation (the Holy Spirit, the Gospel, trials of life, teaching, practice, community, and the local church), the Training Program helps disciples grow.
The WP Training Program runs weekly on Tuesday nights from September to May. Students read up to 50 pages a week in theology and spiritual formation, filling out an accompanying workbook in preparation for the weekly gathering. On Tuesday nights, students hear teaching and then break out with their same-gender cohort of 5-7 to discuss and apply the material together.

"As one of the cohort leaders, it was great to see the commitment in our group to dig deeper in spiritual disciplines and memorization that were not practiced in our lives before! I would encourage anyone to participate in the Training Program, it will challenge you greatly in your spiritual life!"

"This class has caused me to process a wide variety of subjects that really matter in everyday life. I have much greater clarity on difficult areas such as the Trinity, the role of the Holy Spirit, the nature of Christ and many more. The best part is being able to discuss within our group and having the encouragement of other believers."

"The Training Program has far exceeded my expectations! I have been challenged and “spiritually stretched” in unexpected ways! While it has been a tremendous intellectual experience as many questions about the Bible and doctrines are deeply explored, this course is far more devotional than anticipated!"

gatherings
We gather on Sunday evenings at 7:00pm weekly in a home to share a meal, pray for each other, and talk about how to apply God’s Word to our lives. We also have College Ministry events throughout the year.

gatherings
Our Young Adults Ministry helps men and women in their 20s and early 30s grow in Christ alongside other followers of Jesus during such a unique season. As part of West Park’s mission, we seek to reach people with the gospel and equip them to make disciples who love God, love people, and impact the world. We want to see people turn 30 and look a lot more like Jesus than at 20!
The heart of our ministry is Community Groups, where singles, married couples, and young families come together to study Scripture, pray, share meals, serve, and encourage one another as they follow Jesus. Groups meet weekly in homes around Knoxville on Thursday evenings.
We also gather on the Third Thursday of each month from 6:30–8:30pm at The Hub for community, teaching, and worship tailored to young adults. Dinner is provided!
